This is a fantastic gold tone Jelly Belly pendant and chain.
The pendant is a work of art. It consists of six segments all connected with small gold tone links dangling together to form the owl. The body or belly is decorated with small jade stones and the eyes finished with what appears to be garnet stones.
This type of costume jewellery was pioneered by Trifari in the 1930s and perfected by their head designer, Alfred Philippe, in the 1940s. Not to be outdone, Coro's Arthur Katz designed their own line of Jelly Bellies and was subsequently sued by Trifari for infringing on their design. However many of these fantastic pieces were created by other companies and left unsigned, such as this piece, to prevent a lawsuit by powerhouse Trifari.
The owl measures just over 11 cm and 3.5 cm across.
The chain is equally well crafted and measures just over 29 cm when wearing it and 58 cm end to end. It has a ring spring clasp.
You will simply adore this wonderful Jelly Belly owl and it will make a lovely addition to your collection of vintage replica jewellery.
