VINTAGE GARNET AND MARCASITE STERLING SILVER 'HANDBAG' DESIGN PENDANT NECKLACE. 46CM CHAIN. 925

 This unusual vintage piece is sterling silver, featuring a miniature handbag pendant with natural dark red 'Bohemian Garnets'. Hinged design with an intricate openwork detail on the back. A proper little opening hinge; the flap of the purse flaps open. Originally filled with potpourri, which I have left inside! Threaded on a thick, twisted 46cm sterling silver chain with a spring clasp. A very solid piece of jewellery - pendant alone weighs 11,8 grams. The pendant measures 32mm long x 21mm high x 7mm deep. A very unusual collectible, from an antique dealer in London. Bears the 925 hallmark for sterling silver. No date on the pendant, but the jeweller estimates 1930 - 1940.
