YVONNE’S COLLECTABLES

Now for something totally different : This vintage, possibly 19th century set of HIATT barrel lock leg irons, heavy, unfortunately no key.   The chain measures approximately 30cm in length.   The Hiatt & Co. Ltd was supposedly begun by a Mr Hiat (with one T) in 1780, but this story seems to be a myth. It is a fact that Thomas Griffin Hiatt established an operation in 1818. Then in 1840 William John Hiatt assumed ownership of Hiatt & Co. Ltd. After many buy-outs, name changes and other changes, the company is today still in existence.
