The Eilat Stone is an exclusive stone of Israel and is becoming very scarce, due to the fact that in 1970 the mining of this gemstone stopped and there are no stones alike anywhere else in the world.
The Eilat stone is the National stone of Israel, also known as the King Solomon Stone.
The meaning of this stones name relates to the location where it was first found, in the Sinai Peninsula in Israel, near a place called Eilat. These wonderful stones have been found in the copper mines, that have existed in that location since the Bronze age, and were mined under the supervision of King Solomon.
Eilat stone is chrysocolla that is intermixed with turquoise and a form of malachite. The mine from which the stones come has been depleted. Other mines in the region have been disappeared due to flooding.
The city of Eilat is Israel's southernmost city, The mines from which it came are believed to have been the copper mines of King Salomon, hence the reference to as "King Solomon Stone."
