DESCRIPTION:

An ivory glazed ceramic beer mug of an unidentified character, decorated
with polychrome hand-painted facial features and other details.
 
CHARACTER OR TOBY:
 
A character mug features the face and sometimes the shoulders of a particular character,
while most Toby jug's are modelled as a seated full figure of Henry Elwes (Toby Philpot).
It appears as if some sellers and reputable dealers on Bid or Buy do not know the difference.
 
MARKS:

Made in Japan.

CONDITION:

No chips, cracks or crazing, with some glazing and potting imperfections.

DIMENSIONS:

Approximately 9 cm median diameter X 12.5 cm height.
