Vintage Jewish Kiddush wine set
This silver plated 8 cup Kiddush wine set is used in the Jewish ritual of Shabbat or the Sabbath. On Shabbat eve, or Friday night, the Father of the household fills the large cup on the top, called the Kiddush cup. He then repeats an ancient prayer to bless the wine, this blessing is called the Kiddush. Kiddush is a Hebrew word meaning 'Sanctification' or to make holy. He then blesses the bread, much like the communion at a church. The family then dine together. This set has the large Kiddush cup at the top, and when filled, is poured into the divider at the bottom that evenly fills the 8 smaller cups at the bottom.
