Vintage Large Syroco Wood `Groot Trek` Eeufees Plaque By V. Ivanoff.

A VINTAGE LARGE REPLICA SYROCO WOOD PLAQUE OF THE ORIGINAL SIGNED CARVING OF V IVANOFF (VASSIL IVANOFF, 1897-1973), DATING BACK TO AFTER 1938. THE PLAQUE IS MADE FROM SYROCO WOOD WHICH WAS A TECHNIQUE FOUNDED BY ADOLPH HOLSTEIN IN 1890. THE MOULDING TECHNIQUE WAS DEVELOPED WHERE SYROCO COULD CREATE PERFECT REPLICAS OF THE ORIGINAL CARVINGS AND THE RECIPE OF WOOD PULP, FLOUR, WAXES AND RESINS COMBINED WITH COMPRESSION FORMED THE MOULD. THE PLAQUE WAS A COMEMMORATIVE PLAQUE FOR THE GROOT TREK EEUFEES (1838 TO 1938). THE PLAQUE IS IN GOOD CONDITION FOR ITS AGE AND HAS WONDERFUL CRISP DETAILING.  NOTE : THE SIGNATURE IS SOMEWHAT FADED.
