VINTAGE LOVATT & LOVATT, LANGLEY MILL POTTERY, STONEWARE INK BOTTLE

Manufactured by:
Langley Mill Pottery was located on the Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire border, England. From 1865 to 1982, the pottery produced a wide range of stoneware ranging from utilitarian items and tableware, to high quality art. The turn of the 19th century to the end of the First World War was a period of unparalleled prosperity and expansion for the Langley Mill Pottery, with the proprietors becoming increasingly affluent and influential. In 1913, the pottery was converted into a private limited company, Lovatt & Lovatt Ltd. After 1918, the post- war depression began to affect profitability. The company went into voluntary liquidation on 18 July 1930. This ended the involvement of the Lovatt family, although the Lovatt name continued to be used by successive owners of the business.
