VINTAGE STERLING SILVER TEASPOON CRAFT TIE CLIP

Tie-clips are a trend that is finding its way back into the fashionable man's wardrobe. This vintage sterling silver tie clip has been created out of what used to be a solid sterling silver teaspoon! It is a particularly strong trend in England at the moment with vintage silver cutlery being refashioned into fabulous conversation piece jewellery such as rings and bangles. I hadn't seen a tie-pin version until I found this one! It is different and fun. The tips of the handle are fairly ornate, creating an interesting element to the piece. However, it the lines are long and lean rather than girly. It is a good size for a regular tie, measuring a long 74 mm in length across the tie when you wear it and ranging from 9 mm wide at the tip of the tie pin to 3 mm at the point where it folds over. There is no clip mechanism. You simply pry it open slighty to accommodate the tie. It bears the hallmark "international " and "sterling" for the silver. It is a vintage piece and there are some signs of its age in the form of buff marks, which I have tried to show in the photographs. Rather different. Definitely collectable.
