Vintage Mid-Century Salt & Pepper Shakers | Silver Metal on Teak Wood Stand | Possibly South African

This striking vintage salt and pepper set features two elegantly rounded silver-metal shakers seated neatly on a carved wooden base lined with bold red felt. With their modernist silhouette and solid weight, they give off strong mid-century energy though the materials and styling suggest they may date as early as the 1940s. Each shaker stands 4cm tall with a base diameter of about 2cm, and the wooden stand measures 8.5cm x 5.3cm x 1cm. The compact scale contrasts with their unexpectedly hefty feel an excellent indicator of quality craftsmanship and substantial materials.

Though unmarked, the use of what appears to be either pewter or silver plate rather than lightweight aluminium adds a tactile richness to the design.
