Early 'Motto Ware' Cream Jug & Sugar Bowl
This attractive, early, glazed pottery cream jug and sugar bowl from the 1940/50's is beautifully handmade and decorated in the traditional brown, green and blue colours against a cream background. They were made by the 'Dartmouth Potteries' factory in Devon, England, and both feature country cottages with the motto 'To have a friend is to be one' around the sides. They're in excellent condition, and both still carry their original paper labels, as well as the factory backstamp in black on their bases. The jug stands 7,2cm high and measures 12cm x 9cm, the bowl stands 6cm with a diameter of 10,5cm and together they weigh 360g.
