Title: Vintage Napoleon Brass Hand Bell Napoleonic Wars Commemoration (Battles of Wagram and Waterloo) Manufacturer: Unknown. Height: 12cm. Diameter: 6.5cm. Info: A wonderful tone on the chime from the vintage brass bell inscribed with "Napoloeon A Wagram" and "L'Empereur Bataille De Waterloo" commemorating the Napoloeonic Wars. The Battle of Wagram (56 July 1809) was a military engagement of the Napoleonic Wars that ended in a costly victory for Emperor Napoleon's French and allied army against the Austrian army under the command of Archduke Charles of Austria-Teschen. The battle led to the breakup of the Fifth Coalition, the Austrian and British-led alliance against France. Wagram was the largest battle in European history up to its time. The Battle of Waterloo was fought on Sunday, 18 June 1815, near Waterloo in the United Kingdom of the Netherlands, now in Belgium. A French army under the command of Napoleon was defeated by two of the armies of the Seventh Coalition. One was a British-led coalition consisting of units from the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Hanover, Brunswick, and Nassau, under the command of the Duke of Wellington. The other was a larger Prussian army under the command of Field Marshal von Blücher. The battle marked the end of the Napoleonic Wars. The base of the bell contains scenes of men and mounted cavalry in battle. A sculpted bust of Napoleon Bonaparte on the top of the bell. Condition: Very Good, a solid old bell that has been well cared for, a rare piece. Price: R 595.00 Inc Vat.
