HANDCRAFTED NATURAL TURQUOISE PENDANT NECKLACE WITH STERLING SILVER CABLE CHAIN LINKS. BOHEMIAN.

An interesting natural piece crafted out of sterling silver, this pendant necklace features real earth mined turquoise in a gorgeous, sea-green turquoise colour, with yellowy gold tinges and darker marbling adding interest and dimension to the stones. The 17mm wide diameter oval pendant is narrower at the bottom, hanging 19mm from the chain. The 42cm sterling silver chain features small individually shaped pieces of natural turquoise in between slim cable chain links - 2 each between each piece of turquoise. The weight of the necklace (15,54 grams) ensures that it sits well on the neck. The stones are completely natural and have not been faceted at all. The smaller stones are rough little lumps of the turquoise gemstone while the main stone hanging on the central part of the necklace is softly polished into an irregular rounded shape. Thereis no doubting the authenticity of the stones and it will appeal to someone who loves the natural feel of wearing real gemstones. The colour is one of the most alluring features of this necklace. I really don't know the origins of this vintage piece but it does remind me of the turquoise jewellery I have seen off Italy around Sicily - more sea green than bright turquoise. The necklace has a little tag on the closure bearing the jeweller's signature and the 925 hallmark is on the lobster closure. The photographs make the necklace look a lot bigger and bulkier than what it is. At 15,54 grams it is a good weight but really not seriously heavy around the neck. The chain (with the stones on it) is 42m so it sits around the lower throat and neck quite comfortably.
