Add a touch of vintage elegance to your jewellery collection with this stunning piece from the 1970s. This beautiful brooch features a genuine oval cabochon amethyst, framed in sterling silver, and functions both as a pendant and a brooch. The back of the piece is stamped with "Made in South Africa," "Sterling," and the maker's mark "P.J."a testament to its origin and authenticity, though little is known about the maker beyond their activity during the 1970s.
The brooch's pin fits snugly into a G-clasp, ensuring secure wear, and includes a loop for a chain, offering versatile styling options. The amethyst is partially open at the back, allowing light to enhance the stone's natural beauty. Measuring approximately 3cm x 4cm, the frame exhibits minor wear consistent with its age, but remains free of any damage.
Included with the brooch/pendant is a delicate sterling silver chain. Although we suspect the ring spring clasp is a later addition, the chain measures approximately 44cm in length and is in good condition.
This versatile piece is a charming addition to any collection, perfect for adding a touch of vintage sophistication to your outfit.
