VINTAGE "EBONY AND IVORY" WOODEN BOOKENDS WITH HAND CARVED ELEPHANT. I AM SURE THE WOOD IS EBONY, SOLID AND VERY HEAVY..... SCARCE TO FIND THESE DAYS AS THE TREES ARE SLOW GROWING AND SMALL AND HAVE SUFFERED EXPLOITATION OVER MANY YEARS. THE TUSKS AND TOES COULD BE IVORY, IF NOT THEY ARE BONE. BOTH OF THE ELEPHANT HAVE HAD CRUDE REPAIRS DONE WHICH SHOW THE SCREWS, I AM SURE THIS COULD BE EASILY RESTORED AND WELL WORTH THE EFFORT AS THESE BOOK ENDS FETCH HIGH PRICES ON THE INTERNET MARKET, THE "BOOKS" HAVE BEEN DOVETAILED TO THE BASES. HEIGHT OF THE ELEPHANT 15cm, LENGTH 19cm, HEIGHT OF "BOOK" 20.5cm, WIDTH 14cm, LENGTH OF BASE 22.5cm.
