Vintage! Pair Of Signed Navajo Sand Art Paintings

A pair of stunning Navajo sand art paintings depicting Rainbow Gods. A traditional art form of the Navajo, sand paintings are rich in spiritual and cultural significance, usually depicting animals, natural elements and deities. In Navajo culture, "Yei" pronounced "yay" refer to supernatural beings who act as intermediaries between the Great Spirit and humans and are depicted in sand-paintings during healing ceremonies. In a well-loved hardly used condition. One of the frames has a hook for hanging. 

MATERIAL : Wood, Sand, Paint
HALLMARKS / SIGNATURES  : "RAINBOW" on one of the paintings but signatures on both paintings not legible. 
SIZE  :  15cm  x  7.5cm, x 1cm.
