Backstamp history

The Paragon backstamp with the wording By Appointment to H.M. The Queen indicates that Paragon China held a Royal Warrant as china potters to Queen Elizabeth II. This mark was used after her accession in 1952 and before the Paragon brand was absorbed into Royal Doulton in the early 1960s.

The inclusion of China Ltd and Stoke on Trent confirms production in England during Paragons peak post war period, when the company was internationally respected for high quality fine bone china. The First Love pattern is a registered Paragon design and was produced during the 1950s to early 1960s, a time now highly sought after by collectors.
