Vintage "Peacock" pocket warmer. This Japanese pocket warmer dates back to about 1960. The Peacock pocket warmer makes use of the chemical principle that vaporized benzine (hydrocarbon) generates heat when in contact with platinum. The heat generator neither ignites the benzine (not benzene) nor produces flames. It requires the use of a match solely for achieving the necessary temperature to allow platinum to begin catalysis. This warmer is in excellent condition - looks unused (still in its box). Great buy for the collector of the unusual or to use.
