Rare Set of 2 Vintage "Pencil Reed" Octagon Trays.
Highly collectible pieces feature the iconic parallel-stick construction synonymous with the high-end Italian design movement of the 1970s.

Potential Makers: While these artisan pieces are often unsigned, they are crafted in the unmistakable "pencil reed" style pioneered by legendary Italian designer Gabriella Crespi. They were frequently produced by high-end Italian workshops or curated for premium vintage exporters like Dept 56.
Technique: Meticulous hand-woven construction using uniform "split reed" or bamboo rods, bound into a sharp, geometric octagonal form. Made from sustainable hand-woven natural bamboo / cane, they are versatile, multi-functional pieces commonly used as serving trays for bread or fruit, decorative table centrepieces, or even wall decor.
