This is one of those pieces that truly catches the light and the eye. This large vintage pressed glass bowl features an exquisite peacock feather design in a striking blend of translucent green, soft yellow, and blush pink. A glossy interior enhances the colours, while the exterior is softly frosted with deeply etched details. Whether used as a fruit bowl or a standalone display piece, this bowl has all the right vintage drama.
The bowl measures approximately 31.4 cm in diameter and 6.3 cm high. The heart-like pattern at the base adds a touch of retro whimsy to an already impressive form. While the piece is unmarked unfortunately the style and execution suggest mid-century origins, possibly European or Japanese, with strong Art Nouveau influences in its flowing lines and nature-inspired motif. It has the look of a 1960s or 1970s decorative collectible, made to be both functional and fabulous.
It is in perfect condition with no chips, cracks or signs of use. While the colour does bring uranium glass to mind, we've not tested it under black light, and given the fresher colour scheme, it may be a more modern tribute to that aesthetic. Either way, its a radiant example of quality pressed glass craftsmanship.
