This is an authentic vintage glass storage canister manufactured by PYREX in the USA. This specific range was designed to complement the iconic "Spice of Life" collection by CORNING WARE, which was one of the most popular kitchenware patterns of the 1970s.
DESIGN AND MOTIF The glass jar features a clean, cylindrical design. The lid is the highlight, decorated with the classic "SPICE OF LIFE" motif, featuring various vegetables and herbs (such as peppers, mushrooms, and garlic) in earth tones. This pattern was originally introduced in 1972 and has since become a staple for vintage kitchenware collectors.
PROVENANCE While Corning Ware and Pyrex are different brands, they were both manufactured by Corning Glass Works. This collaboration allowed home cooks to have matching storage jars, casseroles, and bakeware. These glass canisters were often sold as part of a nested set or as individual apothecary-style jars.
DIMENSIONS
CONDITION The glass jar and the "Spice of Life" motif are in very good condition. The internal rubber sealing ring remains intact and functional, ensuring an airtight seal. PLEASE NOTE: There is a hairline crack on the lid, and the seam of the lid is discoloured on the inside. I thought that this was also a crack, but it turns out that it is just slight discolouration, as visible in the provided images below; however, the lid remains structurally sound for display or light use.
