This vintage dinner plate features the Somerset Ivy pattern by Swinnertons, under the trade name Royal Wessex. Made from white ironstone, this piece showcases the durable and elegant craftsmanship of Swinnertons. The plate has a glossy finish, and while there is very slight wear on the gold trim, it remains in excellent condition with no chips or grazing.

Historical Background:
Swinnertons Ltd was an established earthenware manufacturer in Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, from 1906 until it became part of the Doulton group in 1973. The company was known for its high-quality pottery and continued to trade under the Swinnertons name even after being absorbed by Allied English Potteries in 1964. The Somerset Ivy pattern is a testament to the classic and timeless designs produced by Swinnertons during the mid-20th century.
