Raketa (Russian: Pa¿e¿a - 'rocket') watches have been manufactured since 1961 by the Petrodvorets Watch Factory in Saint Petersburg. The Petrodvorets Watch Factory is Russia's oldest factory, founded by Peter the Great in 1721. This neat Raketa watch was made some time in the 1970's. The heartbeat of this timepiece is a hand-wound Russian Raketa caliber 2609.HA hand-wound 17 jewel movement. The cal. 2609 movement is always a little tank that's a workhorse and built to last. Comes with a Soviet era gold tone metal spine strap. Strap size is 18 mm. The steel case measures approx. 34 mm across not including the crown, and 37 mm lug to lug. This watch has been cleaned, serviced and tested for accuracy. This particular piece has been running accurately for days. Take care of it, and it should last a long time. It is recommended that any vintage watch be serviced by a professional at least every 5 years to keep it running in tip-top shape.
