Vintage SAR / SAS Railways Monogram Badge with Lugs in Tact Circa 1940-1980

A VINTAGE (CIRCA 1940-1980) SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS BADGE THAT DEPICTS A BELT-RING SURROUNDING THE MONOGRAM LETTERS "SARS" FOR "S.A.R" (SOUTH AFRICAN RAILWAYS) AND "S.A.S" (SUID AFRIKAANSE SPOORWEG). THE BADGE IS MADE OF A NON MAGNETIC WHITE METAL.

The South African Railways (SAR), or Suid-Afrikaanse Spoorweë (SAS) in Afrikaans, was a state-owned railway company formed in 1910 upon the amalgamation of the three major colonial railway systems (Cape; Natal; Central) in South Africa.  The SAR was initially established to unify the fragmented railway infrastructure of the newly formed Union of South Africa. 
It was reorganised and renamed in 1981 as the South African Transport Services (SATS). 
In 1990 it became Transnet.
