King Quartz 4822-8070 series
The 4822 King Quartz was first introduced in 1975. Monthly accuracy of ±10 seconds. It had a simple date, as well as a battery life indicator function.
They were introduced in 1975 and were a development on the 38series of high quality quartz movement, the first Seiko quartz movement to be produced in large quantities. That earlier movement featured a 16382 Hz quartz oscillator but the 48series doubled that to 32768 Hz. with 7 jewels, trimmer condensers and a high level of finishing certainly look several cuts above the disposable mass produced quartz movements fitted to many modern quartz watches.
The 4822 is a very solidly made quartz. The production run of the 48 base caliber spanned just four years so they are becoming highly collectible!
