Vintage Silver Pietermaritzburg 'M.D.F.A.' Soccer Medal (B. Law)

This early 1920's solid silver soccer medal has been very well made, in relief, and is in excellent condition. On the front it has the pre 1930 Pietermaritzburg Coat of Arms with the motto 'UMGUNGUNHLOVU' which means 'the place of the elephant.' Above that 'M.D.F.A.' (Midlands District Football Association) and at the bottom 'FIVE A SIDE.' On the back, it was awarded to 'B. LAW' with the words 'SCHOOL DIVS WINNERS' 'MANSFIELD RD 'A'. Below that it is stamped 'STERLING SILVER' with the makers mark 'F LTD.' It measures 39mm x 27mm and weighs 7.8g.
