  SIMPLE DESIGN HONEY-HUED BALTIC AMBER AND STERLING SILVER BRACELET.  SOLID BANGLE DESIGN. 925 

This striking contemporary-designed less-is-more baltic amber sterling silver bracelet is elegant and simple. An elongated oval cabochon of honey-hued amber with fascinating inclusions measuring 47mm long x 13mm bezel-set in sterling silver. Unusually, the amber has been fixed to a back of sterling silver rather than being left in an openwork design. This gives us quite a startling additional spark as you see the sterling silver through the amber. A fixed hoop on either side of the cabochon provides place for a slim sterling silver tube shaped band that fits snugly under the arm to joins the two elements. One side of the bangle is fixed permanently through one hoop, and the other ends in a hook that forms the catch by looping through the other hoop. The piece bears the 925 hallmark for sterling silver. I found it in England in the hands of a vintage jeweller there but I cannot tell you anything about its origin as it doesn't bear any hallmarks apart from the sterling silver mark. It is quite a solid piece and at 14,25 grams, feels nice and heavy. The bangle part is solid to the touch (doesn't feel hollow or flimsy) and although vintage, bears very little evidence of its age apart from a few buff marks. Its nicely made and rather pretty on.
