Made from brass, steel and copper. With clips for your shirt pocket. The R1 rifle cartridge is marked: A77 R1M1 7.62 The R1 (FN-FAL) is the former service rifle of the South African Army. Remaining rifles in service are accuratised and used as designated marksman rifles. The 7.62×51 bullet was first released in 1954, but American forces did not use the ammunition in significant fighting until the Vietnam war. It was and remains the standard rifle cartridge in use by many NATO countries. The cartridge is used by military personnel, on mounted and crew-served weapons that are mounted to vehicles, aircraft and ships. The A77 means it was made by Armscorp in South Africa and was released in 1977. R1M1 designation system is that the R1 means that the cartridge is the first model of that particular caliber. Any change in design or manufacture that would alter the operational efficiency would lead to a change in R number ie R2, R3 etc. The M1 refers to the mark number. Any change to the cartridge that would not alter the opperational efficiency for the cartridge would lead to a new M number ie M2, M3 etc. An ideal gift for granddad. Condition: The ink needs to be replaced in the cartridge. Some stains on the brass of the R1 bullet. ALSO SEE MY OTHER ITEMS LISTED. YOU CAN SAVE ON POSTAGE BY COMBINING ITEMS
