Vintage South African Silver 'Candida' Brooch
This sterling silver 'Candida' brooch from the 1940's, features a lovely South African Zulu scene of youngsters eating corn, just cooked in a large potjie pot. It was made by 'Joe Calafato', a South African creative jeweller and silversmith who was active between 1947-1984. This brooch was one of his earlier pieces, made between 1947-1951. It is really well made, with amazing detail and is in excellent condition. It is stamped on the back 'STERSILV' 'CANDIDA' 'S. AFRICA', and measures 3,5cm in diameter.
