A striking pair of vintage Sterling Siam cufflinks featuring beautifully detailed Siam-style elephants in silver against rich black enamel triangular panels. Each piece is marked STERLING SIAM on the reverse, identifying them as authentic mid-century Thai sterling silver work, renowned for its distinctive engraved motifs and elegant niello-style finish.
The pair weighs 7.5 grams in total and, at sterling purity (.925), contains approximately 6.9 grams of pure silver. Based on current South African silver prices, the silver alone has an intrinsic melt value of approximately R250R280, giving these cufflinks solid underlying precious metal value in addition to their collectible appeal.
The dramatic elephant motif, unusual triangular form and deep black enamel make these ideal for collectors of Siam silver, vintage Thai jewellery, or anyone looking for a distinctive restoration project. One cufflink still retains its original clip fastening, while the second could be restored, converted into a pendant, tie tack or other piece of jewellery.
Condition
One cufflink retains its original clip fastening while the second is missing its fastening clip. Both remain clearly marked STERLING SIAM. Enamel is intact with light age wear and fine surface scratches consistent with vintage use
