   STRIKING SWISS BLUE TOPAZ SOLITAIRE RING WITH NATURAL MARCASITES IN STERLING SILVER

This sterling silver ring is a vintage piece. Its design has a distinctly 'olde worlde' feel to it. A beautifully faceted 0,32 carat bright Swiss Blue topaz bezel set in sterling silver is surrounded by what seems to be a floating collar of 16 natural marcasites set in a curved frill around the topaz. What is unusual is that the collar is only attached to the centre bezel at four points, so that there are 4 curved areas of openwork around the strong blue topaz. The collar is textured by a band of notched silver both above and below the marcasites, which combined with the gemstones provides a perfect contrast to the smooth sparkle of the topaz. A simple shank holds the 16mm x13mm ring head which allows the detail and the gemstones to do the talking. The '925' hallmark indicating sterling silver appears inside the shank. Lovely on the hand, this piece supplies drama and elegance!
