THIS AMAZING OLD TEAPOT HAS SURVIVED - BUT NOT UNSCATHED. IT HAS 'DUKE OF EDINBURGHS OWN RIFLES' AROUND THE LOOP HANDLE. THE 'DUKE OF EDINBURGHS GURKAS OWN RIFLES' HAS A LONG HISTORY.
I IMAGINE THIS VERY ORNATE SILVER PLATED TEAPOT WAS MADE AND USED IN VERY DISTINGUISHED (OFFICERS) MILITARY CIRCLES. IT IS HEAVY AND BEAUTIFULLY MADE WITH FABULOUS ORNATE FEATURES. DUE TO IT'S LONG YEARS OF SERVICE IT HAS SUFFERED WAR INJURIES AND IN IT'S PRESENT STATE IS ONLY SUITABLE AS A 'VETEREN' PIECE OF MEMORABELIA.
SIZE: Height from bottom to top of loop on lid - 17cm. Height of teapot without lid - 11cm. Width from tip of spout to widest part of handle - 26cm. Diameter of widest part of bowl - 18cm.

The end of the spout is a bit dented and the spout has been repaired at the join.
Written on top of the lid is 'Duke of Edinburgh own Rifles' The lid is just placed on top but it has broken off from the pot.
The pins are loose on the top of the handle
During its many years of service - it appears to have been repaired around the spout.
The lid has come adrift from the teapot
This is the underside of the lid. The hinge works well but the lid has come adrift from the teapot. It appears to have been soldered at one time.
The pins in the handle joint are loose
