United States Army

69th Infantry Division Insignia Patch

The 69th Infantry Division, nicknamed the "fighting 69th," was a Division of the United States Army formed during World War II. The shoulder sleeve insignia of the division was designed by its then commander Maj. Gen. Charles L. Bolte with the red, white and blue being the colors of the United States forming a "6" and a "9". The 69th was originally nicknamed "Bolte's Bitching Bivouacking Bastards" or the four B's and then eventually the Fighting 69th. The division's exploits in WWII are legendary today.

This SSI patch was worn between 30 April, 1943 to 16 March 1956. It was manufactured in 1955 by
the E. JALOWSKY & CO in 1968 as official USGI military patch with a snow back.

Original 69th Infantry SSI Patch, full colour, from 1955 with cut edge
