Vintage Venus of Urbino by Titian Hinged School Desk Shaped Wooden Trinket Box

THIS IS A SCHOOL DESK SHAPED WOODEN TRINKET BOX WITH A VENUS OF URBINO ARTWORK (1536-1538) BY TITIAN (1490-1576) ON THE TOP OF LID COVER.
 
Few artists has ever painted naked women as Titian did. His ravishing Venus is a lover laying her beauty bare, and the recipient of her optical largesse is anyone who gazes up on her. Titian creates with mind-boggling skill the lavish presence of this nude: the rapture of her carnal glory. There's something divine or profane about such beauty its up to each and everyone to decide.

Titian, or Tiziano Vecellio, (14901576) was an Italian painter active in Venice in the 16th century. He is considered the greatest painter in the Venetian art school. During his long career, he painted a variety of subjects, shaping Renaissance art in the Italian North. Much of Titians work has been lost or destroyed. There was a fire in the Doges Palace in 1577 which destroyed many pieces. Between 1554 and 1562 Titian painted six mythological canvases for Philip II of Spain, which he called his poesie paintings which are based on poetical texts, notably Ovids Metamorphoses. Titian taught El Greco - Since the Greek island of Crete was part of the Republic of Venice, the city was the next natural step for young painter later known as El Greco.  Even though not much is known about his stay in Venice, in a letter of his friend Guilio Clovio it is stated that he was a disciple of Titian.
