VINTAGE WIZARD PHONOGRAPH/GRAMOPHONE
In working condition - Made in occupied Japan during mid 1940's

This is a Wizard portable gramophone or phonograph, made in occupied Japan during the 1940's.
It appears to be a very good quality gramophone and when it is viewed alongside a Columbia or His Masters Voice, it is even more apparent and this is also reflected in the "GRADE A" label.
The US strictly regulated Japanese exports during the Allied occupation period following WWII, requiring at least 50% of all Japanese exports to be marked "made in occupied Japan".
This gramophone may not be as old as others but originates from an interesting period in world history, making it all the more collectible.
It is in a working condition. The winding mechanism, speed adjustment and brake works and it produces sound. Keep in mind though that it may require a bit of a service or tinkering with to sound perfect. The joint where the head swivels is slightly loose and this could be affecting the sound quality.
Cosmetic condition is fairly good and it appears to be complete, with no damage apart from everyday wear and tear. The outside of the case shows a little wear on the edges and corners.
We have not tried cleaning, fixing or restoring anything, so it could do with a good cleaning and polishing of the chrome parts.
The gramophone measures 38cm x 29cm x 15cm.
Please have a look at the images to verify age and condition. All questions welcome.
