Vintage WWII Model 1938 Lensatic Compass with Leather Case (Rare find)

Genuine period M1938 Lensatic Compass with leather case, as issued to U.S. Army officers and technical troops including tank crews during the early stages of World War II. This model was standard until it was replaced by a lighter variant later in the war.

The compass is a good original example, complete with undamaged glass components. It features:

• Lensatic viewing lens
• Bubble level
• Liquid-filled compass dial
• Top embossed Lensatic Compass U.S. and serial number 5686
• Condition:  Aged condition due to age and war.  The leather case has a soft, aged patina and retains its front snap closure. Please note: the front securing strap, but rear strap, and wire hook remain in tack
• Dimensions: 4 (H) x 5 (L) x 5 (W)cm.
