VINTAGE BALTIC AMBER STERLING SILVER RING CREAMY YELLOW OVAL CABOCHON. 925

This vintage piece has a simple design - it is solid sterling silver and features a smooth oval Baltic Amber cabochon in an opaque, creamy toffee/lemon, bezel set in sterling silver. Amber comes in many different forms ranging from almost transparent to dense. This piece is very dense, of a fairly consistent colour and hue with few variations. Definitely yellow but with a distinct toffee finish to it! It has not been coated in any way - something jewellers tend to do with modern pieces. They coat the piece in a transparent resin that gives a high shine finish. This one, by contrast, has an interesting more natural sense of age to it. Simple and modern strong lines of simplicity but a vintage ring that defiintely has a story behind it! The shank is a simple sterling silver band,quite broad towards the shoulder (8,5 mm wide) and narrower under the finger for comfort. The ring head measures 12mm long x 7mm across, and is raised quite high in its solid sterling silver bezel frame, 5mm above the finger. The piece weighs a solid 4,82 grams, bears the jeweller's signature, and the 925 hallmark indicating sterling silver. The slightly darker hue of the silver and some buff marks on the silver are in keeping with its age.
