VINTAGE ZEWENWACHT (7 EXSPECTATIONS) 1983 CABERNET SAUVIGNON LIMITED RELEASE (NO 792 OF 1053) 1,5L BOTTLE IN WOODEN BOX

VINTAGE 1983 ZEVENWACHT CABERNET SAUVIGNON MAGNUM (1,5L) BOTTLE IN A ZEWENWACHT KOOP MARKED WOODEN CRATE. THIS OLD WINE BOTTLE IS AN EARLY GILBERT COLBYN LIMITED RELEASE 1,5L BOTTLE NO 792 OF 1053 BOTTLES - HENCE YOU WONT FIND MANY OF THEM OUT THERE.
 
NO CORK SEAPAGE EVIDENT AND NO FRUITY SMELL NEAR CORK. BOTTLE STILL FULL AND APPEARS TO BE WELL PRESERVED. NO APPARENT SEDIMENT VISIBLE NEAR BOTTOM.
 
NOTE I HAVE 4 VINTAGE 1,5L BOTTLES OF WINES ALL IN OLD WOODEN CRATES ON AUCTION THIS WEEK. ONE IS A VRIESENHOF, ANOTHER A NEDERBURG AND ONE IS A ZEVENWACHT WINE BOTTLE.
 
ZEWENWACHT WINES:
The name Zevenwacht, derived from the Dutch Seven Expectations is a modern wine farm with a 300 year history.
A family owned and managed Estate, the current owners, Harold and Denise Johnson purchased the farm in 1992, and have committed themselves to a programme of development to realise Zevenwachts rich potential beyond wine production.
Zevenwacht had its early beginnings way back in 1712 when Jean le Roux a French Huguenot was allocated land on the Bottelary Hills between two areas that would later become the towns of Stellenbosch and Kuilsriver. He named the farm Langverwacht and he and his wife lived there with their 11 children until he died in 1752. In 1793 Daniel Bosman was allocated an adjoining property which he named Zevenfontein. On this farm at the head of a beautiful valley he built himself a cottage to live in.
Zevenfontein and Langverwacht however continued as seperate farms until 1979 when a Cape Town architect Gilbert Colyn purchased both of the farms and decided to join the two farms again. He called the combined farms  Zevenwacht. (Seven Expectations)
Gilbert Colyn then set about renovating the farm and improving the vineyards which had been badly neglected. In 1982 a new cellar was built to be ready for the first harvest that was due in February 1983. After owning the farm for ten years Colyn put it up for sale and it was purchased by current owners Harold and Denise Johnson. They immediately got to work and since mid 1992 some major improvements have been made on the farm.

CARBERNET SAUVIGNON:
Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world's most widely recognized red wine grape varieties. It is grown in nearly every major wine producing country. Cabernet sauvignon is a full-bodied red wine. The rich flavor and high tannin content in Cabernet Sauvignon make it a perfect partner to rich grilled meats, peppery sauces, and dishes with high flavor. Because red wines get their color and much of their texture and flavor from the grape skins, the thicker skins of cabernet sauvignon grapes create a rich, concentrated, and purple/black, full-bodied wine that does best in warm climates because it's a late ripening grape.
