‘Frosted Chocolate’ is one of the Velour series of violas developed in England and released in 2006. This amazing formation is often referred to as the ‘mini pansy’ because it has inherited its characteristics from the small Viola cornuta and larger ‘pansy’ Viola wittrockiana.
The 'Velour' series is probably best known for their distinctive colour combinations. ‘Frosted Chocolate’ boasts chocolate winged petals and a bronze face. They are extremely floriferous with very rounded, beautifully formed flowers and have a tidy, compact habit. The velour series resists high temperature stretching, making it ideal for summer plantings.
Due to the excellent germination, the short cultivation period and specifically the uniformity, Velour Frosted Chocolate is an excellent choice for "Professionals". Amateur gardeners however, will also appreciate this new pansy for planting both in the late summer for early flowering in the autumn and spring, as well as in the spring for flowering in the summer. These fabulous characteristics make this Viola a charming addition for the year-round gardener.
