A RARE CERAMIC BEER TANKARD MANUFACTURED IN WEST GERMANY BY ECKHARDT & ENGLER K.G AND DECORATED WITH AN ORNATELY CRAFTED "BRANCH" STYLE HANDLE AND RAISED COLORFUL IMAGES WITHIN PANELS AROUND THE SURFACE. THE IMAGE CLOSEST TO THE HANDLE IS THAT OF A GERMAN COUNTRY INN WITH THE WORDS - "DER TRUNK SEI KLAR, DEIN LIEB SEI RAR" BENEATH THE IMAGE. ROUGHLY/LOOSELY TRANSLATED WITH A LITTLE BIT OF POETIC LICENSE, THIS WOULD TRANSLATE AS - "REMAIN CLEAR HEADED WHEN DRUNK, AND THEREBY CHOOSE YOUR LOVE WISELY" THE IMAGE ON THE TANKARD FRONT DEPICTS A GENTLEMAN BECOMING AMOROUS WITH A LADY INSIDE AN INN AT A TABLE WHILE ANOTHER LADY LOOKS AWAY.
