According to a Battiss expert, the Battiss prints that were signed with the artists full name were regarded by Battiss as proofs and more often were intended as gifts, which were never made available commercially at the time. He also mentions the following; These impressions were marked by Battiss in an edition of 10 or otherwise Special Proof, as in the case of a particular print, and can therefore be regarded as a monotype.
