Walter Battiss

A monotype is a print, but with one major difference from other printmaking processes: the artist creates one print only.  

According to a Battiss expert, the Battiss prints that were signed with the artists full name were regarded by Battiss as proofs and more often were intended as gifts, which were never made available commercially at the time.
