Walter Moorcroft was a British master potter. Born on February 12, 1917 in Burslem, United Kingdom, he took over his father Williams pottery business, Moorcroft Pottery, in 1945. Using his own Art-Nouveau designs as aids, he would hand paint ornate glazes on each vessel. These decorative elements, which consisted of richly colored flowers, became very popular during his lifetime. In 1972, at the height of his career, Moorcroft had a major exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum. He died on September 2, 2002, in London, United Kingdom
