The chapters on disease are admirably introduced with the avowed intention of enabling the owner " to co-operate with his veterinarian either by intelligent assistance or, at least, by not increasing his difficulties. " One might be allowed to add a warning, omitted in the chapter on grooming, that horses with thin skins object very strongly to the use of the dandy brush except when they have their winter coats. Breaking and riding are evidently considered to be outwith the scope of a book on general management.
