Published by Books of Africa 1967 1st edition. As you can see from the pics the cover of this hardback has seen better days with rubbing a stain and spine starting to split at top. The inside of the book however is fine.211 pages indexed. Illustrated by Penny Miller. A foreword by The Honourable Ian Douglas Smith Prime Minister of Rhodesia reads as follows

"Some forty years ago, the Wankie Game reserve was proclaimed, and Ted Davison, the author of this book, was appointed as its first warden. He remained at this post for 34 years and during this period probably did more than anyone else in Rhodesia for the preservation and development of our wild game and the promotion of Wankie as one f the great tourist attractions of this world.

His tasks over these years vividly and truthfully portrayed in the pages that follow, but the over-riding theme throughout is his love and affection for creatures of all shapes and sizes.

Men cast in the mould of Ted Davison deserve the highest praise and thanks, for they have carried out the hard, relentless and so often dangerous task of preserving the animals of the Wild Kingdom so that future generations of Rhodesians can enjoy their heritage"
