This is a very scarce Original British Pattern 1879 Artillery Carbine "Sawback" Bayonet , in use from about 1879 to 1900 . They were designed to fit the Martini-Henry Carbine . This Bayonet has a South African history which makes it so interesting . The blade 25" long by 7/8" wide , single fluted blade both sides . Queen Victoria insignia and W.D.^ war dept. stamp
