Being a record in colour. First edition hardcover with embossed cloth boards published by Adam & Charles Black, London in 1901. The book is a record of Mortimer Menpes' artworks from sketches he made during the Boer War in South Africa, with text by his daughter Dorothy. 254 pages, illustrated throughout with author's now world-renowned drawings. Fold-out map intact. Very good condition overall with light intermittent foxing and a large owner's plate on the inside cover BUT the binding has age hardened and is coming apart throughout. No pages missing and the covers would lend themselves excellently to being rebound.
