Description:Riders of the Dead, set in the Warhammer Fantasy world, recounts the divergent experience of two Empire soldiers during a massive chaos invasion. Most of the action is set in Kislev, the Warhammer world's equivalent of Russia, and Abnett paints a vivid picture of Kislevite society below the elite level and its ways of war. Chaos is also portrayed as a functioning society rather than a pack of undifferentiated monsters. One warning: Unlike some of Abnett's other work, this is a very male-dominated story, with virtually no female characters.
