First Edition 1904 - Book in great condition - Has a previous owner's name inside with the date 1904 !!! - In 1986 a limited number were reprinted and they are, if one can find one, very expensive - BUT - This is the real thing !!! **** "The German Official Account of the War in South Africa" is probably one of the most significant books written about the Second Anglo-Boer War. The reason is that it was not written by one of the interested parties but by outside onlookers who were trained military observers. - It is therefore as objective as one can get in historical writings. It is free of the emotions which one understandably finds in the writings of both the English and the Boers. Mendelsons' South African Biography on African books says of 'The German Official Account': "The work is characterised by the thoroughness which is so prominent a feature of German productions of this class, and despite constant criticisms of the British methods and military tactics, is written in a perfectly fair and unbiased manner."(p.590). Book condition: Very Good - 280 pages including an excellent index. All of the 9 large foldout maps of the battles are present as well as the two photo illutrations - Whats the chance of you ever finding something like this again ???
N.B.* Dis natuurlik beter om meer as een boek by my te koop want dan betaal jy net R 6 posgeld vir elk van jou verdere boeke i.p.v. R 24 – Kyk wat het ek nog, dis dalk die moeite werd.
