Watsonia rogersii Seeds
South African Endemic Perennial Flowering Bulb
Watsonia is a genus of plants in the Iridaceae family native to South Africa. The genus is named after Sir William Watson, a British botanist. There are 52 species in southern Africa; all are perennial herbs growing from corms and producing erect spikes of showy flowers, and are adapted to a Mediterranean-type climate. Watsonia rogersii is a South African endemic species from the Western Cape Province where it can be found from Hottentots Holland and Kogelberg, eastwards to Hermanus, and the Riviersonderend Mountains near Villiersdorp. It was previously known as Watsonia middlemostii. It grows to 50cm tall with lanceolate leaves. From spring to summer it bears zygomorphic pink to light purple flowers.
